Graco warehouse gets re-striped – with a Graco line striper of course!

Recently all the floor markings in Graco’s European Headquarters were re-striped by external contractor Erik Hinoul: a passionate line striper and a Graco fanatic.

Every warehouse floor needs re-striping now and again, and the warehouse at Graco’s European Headquarters in Maasmechelen, Belgium is no exception. Apart from making completely new markings to ensure safety of pedestrians, Graco wanted a top-quality line striping job to be done using Graco equipment, and while warehouse employees were going about their daily business.

The job fell to Erik Hinoul, who had set up his own line striping company with just one machine: the Graco LineLazer ES 1000. As his experience and portfolio grew – mainly warehouses and sports halls – so did his passion for line striping. “I love the work. I work long and hard hours, and take pride in focusing on attention to detail and high quality. I suppose I am a bit of a perfectionist.”

For the job in Maasmechelen, 1050 meters of lines were needed, plus 35 square meters of hatched marking. The areas of the warehouse floor to be striped had first to be cleaned by bead blasting, and everything taped off.

A full day was needed to prepare and tape the site – using 1800 meters of tape – followed by 3 hours of spraying. “It wasn’t a particularly difficult job and it went very smoothly. It was an enormous honour to be able to work for the company whose products I love so much,” recalls Erik.

The Graco LineLazer ES 1000 and LineDriver 160 were used for the job. Erik used two-component yellow polyurethane paint because the colour lasts longer and the paint is highly durable. “I prefer to drive slower and put a thicker coat of paint down than using a larger spray tip and drive faster.”

The Graco specialist

Erik now works with seven Graco machines. He uses the LineLazer ES 1000 for all indoor work. For outdoor line striping he uses the other four Graco machines in his arsenal: a LineLazer II 5900, a LineLazer III 3900, a Graco IV 3900, and a LineDriver 160 to boost his productivity. Some of those units are performing for over 20 years. He recently invested in a LineLazer ES 2000 and LineLazer V 200HS HP Automatic Series. “Adding these new machines to my arsenal allows me to work with even more flexibility.”

Erik is a true perfectionist who started line marking thanks to his love for Graco equipment.
