EQp - Shutdown and Storage

Follow along to learn how to drain, shutdown, and winterize your Graco EcoQuip 2 EQp system.

Draining the Pot

To drain the pot on your EcoQuip 2 EQp, follow these steps:

1.      Turn the selector valve to off.

2.      Open the abrasive ball valve.

3.      Open the dump valve to relieve pressure in the pinch hose and pot. *

4.      Close the dump valve when the pot pressure gauge reads 0 psi.

5.      Close the abrasive ball valve and disconnect the abrasive ball valve cam-lock by removing the coupler pins and pulling the rings out and up to pull the two cams away from the groove. **

6.      Open the fill flush valve once the water is above the pop-up seal and pull up on the pop-up handle to pressurize the pot.

7.      Place a bucket under the abrasive hose. Slowly open the abrasive ball valve to flush abrasive material from the pot. ***

8.      Close the fill flush valve, open the abrasive ball valve and drain the pot of water.

9.      Connect the abrasive hose.

* Note: NOTE: For additional information on the Pinch Hose, see manual, page 11.

** NOTE: Be prepared to capture the water that will be drained from the pot. All disposals must comply with national, state, and local regulations.

*** Note: Once the water surges from the abrasive hose, close the ball valve and pull up on the pop-up handle once water is above the pop-up seal to re-pressurized the pot. Repeat until all abrasive has been emptied from the pot.

Shutdown

To shutdown your EcoQuip 2 EQp, follow these steps:

1.      When you have finished blasting, perform wash until all of the abrasive is flushed from the blast hose (refer to manual Use the Wash Feature, page 18).

2.      Turn the selector valve to OFF, and with the abrasive ball valve closed, continue to blast until all water is cleared from the hose. This is to dry the inside of the hose for storage.

3.      Perform Pressure Relief Procedure, (refer to manual, page 8).

Perform pressure relief procedure as following:

1.      Close the abrasive ball valve.

2.      Close the compressor supply air valve and then turn compressor off.

3.      Make sure the supply pressure gauge reads zero and then close the air supply valve.

4.      Disconnect the air supply hose.

5.      Turn the selector valve to blast and close the fill flush valve and disconnect the pressurized water supply.

6.      Open the pot dump valve until pot pressure gauge reads 0 psi.

EQp - Shutdown and Storage

To winterize your EcoQuip 2 EQp, follow these steps:

1.      To prepare for winter storage, drain the pot per the manual (refer to manual, page 20). *

2.      Close the air supply valve and disconnect the water supply.

3.      Remove the pump inlet hose from the pump inlet and let drain. **

4.      Connect the included siphon hose to the pump, then insert the end into a windshield wash container. Choose a windshield wash with a rating that will protect the equipment for the lowest temperature in your area.

5.      Open the air supply valve.

6.      Turn the selector valve to BLAST with the abrasive metering valve 1/4 turn open until the blast water tubing is full of windshield wash.

7.      Turn the selector valve to WASH. Confirm that the wash tubing fills with windshield wash.

8.      Close the air supply valve.

9.      Remove fill/flush line from the water supply manifold and drain water. Reconnect the fill/flush line.

10.   Open all ball valves and the abrasive metering valve.

11.   Reconnect the pump inlet hose. ***

*Notice: Vapor abrasive blasters must be winterized whenever there is a possibility of freezing temperatures during storage to avoid damage to the equipment.

** NOTE: All disposals must comply with national, state, and local regulations.

*** Notice: When ice forms behind the seals, the seals can become damaged. During storage, position all ball valves in the open position.
